On September 9, 2020, Lucid Motors Unveiled the Lucid Air, the World’s Most Powerful and Efficient Luxury Electric Sedan.

“Lucid Motors is driven to make the electric car better, and by doing so, help move the entire industry forward towards accelerated adoption of sustainable mobility. The goal of this relentless approach to developing the world’s most advanced electric vehicle is to benefit all mankind with sustainable, zero emission transportation, and to also attract new customers to the world of EVs,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Motors. “With the Lucid Air, we have created a halo car for the entire industry, one which shows the advancements that are possible by pushing the boundaries of EV technology and performance to new levels.”

After evaluating over 60 sites in 13 states for the Lucid Motors factory, they chose a 500-acre property in Casa Grande, Arizona. Located between Phoenix and Tucson — and within easy reach of their Silicon Valley headquarters — the Casa Grande offered close proximity to critical utilities, an established transportation system, and strong support from state and local governments.

This facility is the first greenfield — or purpose-built — EV factory in North America. Designed to Lucid’s exact specifications, it is being built with such efficiency and speed that they will complete construction of its first phase a mere 12 months after breaking ground. Outfitted with the world’s most advanced production line equipment, the factory will have the initial capacity to produce 10,000 cars a year — and over 300,000 annually with planned expansion.
