Faun (Fahrzeugfabriken Ansbach und Nurnberg) got their name in 1916 after the unification of the works in Ansbach and Nuremberg. In 1908, they began production of refuse collection vehicles and sweepers and began truck production in 1918 in Germany. From 1924 to 1927 they offered a private car but had no commercial success. In 1943, the FAUN factories were completely destroyed during World War 2. They built commercial trucks from 1928 to 1990.
